In 1857 Johann Hermann Picard founded his company in the old forge in the Bergisches Land, making tools for smiths, plumbers and locksmiths. When his son took over the factory, it was modernised further and steam and gas and electricity were used as sources of energy. The way was then open for mechanical processing and they were able to keep up with the fast progressing technical developments. Today even after 150 years, the company is still in the family hand and the high quality demands once which shaped its beginnings are still in place. Where the old forge once stood is now a new and modern production and administration site which has grown and blended into the local countryside.
